AtriCure

Making the complex visible.

For medical device manufacturer AtriCure, Byer created Cryo-Man: a 3D anatomical model and a series of animations that bring internal structures and nerve pathways into view. The work turns a complex subject into a visual story that can be explored from the whole body down to a specific area.

Project scope

  • 3D anatomical modeling
  • Materials, lighting, and visual development
  • Anatomical animation
  • Interactive 3D presentation

A clearer view of a technical subject.

Internal anatomy is difficult to communicate with words alone. A single image can establish context, but it cannot guide a viewer through a sequence or let them examine the subject from another angle.

Cryo-Man combines a recognizable full-body form with visible skeletal and nervous-system detail. Focused animations draw attention to individual regions, while the browser-based 3D presentation allows the model to be rotated, zoomed, and panned.

One model. Multiple ways to explain.

The model provides a consistent visual foundation across the animation series. A translucent exterior reveals the underlying anatomy, while color and motion direct attention to the structures relevant to each sequence.

The result is a coordinated set of 3D assets rather than disconnected illustrations: a full-body model, focused anatomical animations, and an interactive way to examine the structure.

Two examples from the animation series show how the same model supports different anatomical views. The muted previews play on a loop; use the controls to pause or explore each sequence.

Technical expertise, made tangible.

For technical manufacturers, a clear explanation is part of the product experience. Our work with AtriCure shows how 3D modeling and animation can turn specialist subject matter into visual assets that support a more focused conversation.
